Health Care

The school provides its students with medical care. This is attended to by the school doctor and a nurse, who perform the following:

  • Examine students and refer them to specialists when necessary;
  • Perform physical and dental checkups at the beginning of the year;
  • Deal with health problems pertaining to physical growth during adolescence; and
  • Cover public health issues through planning student activities and lectures.

    Nursery

    It serves the children of the staff. It is located in a separate building, and it is well-equipped for the welfare of infants and toddlers at the preschool stage.

    Transportation

    The school provides students who require this service with daily transportation that is organized in three rounds. Rounds one and two are for Elementary and Secondary schools, while round three is for the KG children. Grades 1-3 are always included in round two.

    Canteen

    Students can buy healthy food and soft drinks from the school canteen. The canteen is supervised by a special committee to ensure the quality of all available food.

    Security and Protection

    There are 5 entrances to the school campus. All gates are guarded from morning until all students leave the school. Students are not allowed to leave the school premises during school hours without getting permission from administration. Guests wishing to visit the school acquire a special visitor's badge at one of the gates.

    Edunation

    The use of ICT in teaching and learning is an increasing component of classroom practice to enhance student skills and knowledge.  The school aims at fully transforming into an e-school. Three stages have been planned to enable us to reach this goal and keep up with the developments in the IT sector.

    ASG e-school is state of the art e-schooling and school management system that e-enables the schooling environment. The system helps in making education an enjoyable experience and provides an easy-to-use suite of Web-based tools to perform the never ending daily school routines. Benefits of utilizing ASG e-school are:

    • Allows users (students, teachers, parents, and administrators) to manage their profiles and the services within given authorization
    • Eliminates work duplication by making information seamlessly available to every department
    • Reduces paperwork, improves work efficiency and accountability, and saves time
    • Relieves academic staff from administrative workload
    • Reduces result-processing and publishing time
    • Increases parent-teacher involvement by improving communication

    Up till now, two of the three stages have been fulfilled and the school is working on the completion of stage three within the coming three years.

    The first two stages have been concerned with launching and solidifying the infrastructure where a comprehensive scheme has been implemented by:

    • Connecting the school to the World Wide Web through a lease line.
    • Partnering with Jordan's most reputable Microsoft partner to install Microsoft's latest product on our servers.
    • Launching LAN settings where 400 points where established among which 200 are activated. Moreover, the school's campus is equipped with wireless network that can facilitate students and teacher access to the school's e-services.
    • Providing the appropriate protection needed for the network by utilizing a Firewall System and subscribing to a censoring company to prevent the leakage of inappropriate web pages to school devices, in addition to applying the latest Anti-Virus and network security program. Moreover, all software is licensed and precautions have been taken against the cutting off of electric power supply.
    • Transforming all classrooms into e-classes by providing interactive electronic boards and a computer that is connected to the World Wide Web.
    • Conducting ICDL courses for all teaching staff.
    • Preparing four well-equipped computer labs for teaching, in addition to equipping the school Science Laboratories with computerized experimental devices.
    • Installing e-class systems that enable computer labs to become multipurpose educational labs (easy classes).
    • Installing computers in staff rooms and administrators’ and coordinators’ offices, and installing multimedia services room for research purposes.
    • Transforming report cards into computerized reports.

    Our future plan for developing ICT consists of the following:

    • Transforming all classrooms into e-classes by providing interactive electronic boards and a computer that is connected to the World Wide Web to conduct e-lessons.

    The Central Library (Media Centre)

    Our central library is considered one of the most enriching information centers and up-to-date libraries in Jordan. The central library/information center is specialized in supporting school curricula and the overall academic and co-curricular levels at school, with a variety of books and sources of information. There are two subsections of the central library to cater for the different age groups: The Elementary School library and the KG library.

    Sources of information at all libraries include periodicals, reference material, audio-visuals and ICT sources. The libraries are appropriately organized to facilitate locating and obtaining information by all users. We use both the International Dewey System of Classification in addition to the Anglo-American system. Computer data is entered according to the Winisis system.

    In general, the library undertakes many activities among its responsibilities, such as:

    • Encouraging students to read and research;
    • Holding exhibitions;
    • Holding general information contests;
    • Sponsoring lectures; and
    • Reading sessions for Elementary and KG students held by eminent authors of children books.

    We are proud that the wide variety of sources and resources sufficiently outreach all of our school programmes: the national programme and the IB diploma programme.

    Computer Laboratories

    The Computer Department at ASG seeks to prepare competent students and develop computer-aided instruction. Therefore, the department provides programmes that are developmentally appropriate for each grade level and aims to achieve a higher degree of integration among subjects through utilizing computers in learning.

    Science Laboratories

    Our Science Laboratories consist of three up-to-date, well-equipped and spacious labs that cater for the three science disciplines: Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. A highly qualified staff runs the labs with degrees ranging from PhD, MSc and BSc holders. Our staff works as one team to cater for all students throughout the school. These labs provide the necessary equipment for conducting scientific experiments and also supplement the IB - Diploma and the Ministry of Education curricula.

    Our labs were accredited by CIE and Edexcel when the school used to offer both IGCSE and A-Levels and were used as examination centers. Now they are fully equipped to also cater for IB students who are preparing their extended essays on scientific topics.

    A science exhibition is annually held at the end of the year where secondary students display their work. To fulfill our school’s mission in serving the larger community, we are quite prepared to allow other schools and centers the use of our labs.

    Design

    The primary focus of the Middle Years Design Programme is to engage students in a practical programme that will give them an understanding of the design cycle. Students complete projects based on solving real and authentic problems. They document their progress as they follow the design cycle to come to feasible solutions, which they evaluate through a process of testing.

    Our Design Department operates in two spacious rooms that cater for the two design disciplines:

    Product design:

    The product design workshops are equipped with computers and high quality working benches and several equipment and machines to allow students to learn how to work with different tools and materials, and to understand how everyday tools and gadgets work.

    Digital design:

    The Computer labs are invaluable in digital design. Computers help students collect and handle information, come up with their own designs and bring them to life. The department provides programmes that are developmentally appropriate for each grade level and aims to achieve a higher degree of integration among subjects through utilizing computers in learning.
