As part of its role in spreading awareness of issues that affect students as well as the general public unawares, Midad Forum organized several debates. The first discussed the Arabic drama during Ramadan in an attempt to answer the question whether it is a legitimate recreation form or superficial representation of societal problems and struggles.

The second debate for teachers of ASG and Bishop’s was on the current social culture and whether we should adopt it and go along with it or take a firm stand against it.

Another panel discussion was held on “Fear; a Phenomenon Indicating Loss of Safety.” The panel was led by Dr. Hala Shekem, Head of Counselling Department, and included specialists in the field.

The Cinema Club hosted the critic Mr. Adnan Madanat, who gave a talk on the cinema as a social activity. Several films were shown during the first term including the Italian production the Tiger and the Ice which was followed by a discussion facilitated by Dr. Radwan Madanat; the Palestinian film Paradise Now; the Chinese film Together; and the Iranian film Where Is My Friend’s House.

In addition, our colleague Mr. Nawwaf Abu Agil discussed The Core with our students in an attempt to use our scientific knowledge to weigh all that we see.

Midad Forum also prepared a folkloric night during Ramadan which also featured a general knowledge contest as well as the first performance of our very own Midad folkloric musical group supervised by Dr. Salah Rammal.
